As a three-sport athlete growing up in California, Robert learned the power of teamwork and fighting through improbable victories.

These experiences created the foundation for a successful career in sales and marketing, where  he was directly responsible for generating over $150 million in sales.

For over 25 years, Robert led global launches and won multiple sales and leadership awards for brands like Coca-Cola, Novartis Pharmaceutical, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

As the child of a business owner, Kay Lee’s formative years revolved around the family feed store.
Working for the family business through college, she watched her dad make his business priority #1 as he let family time take a back seat.

Her entrepreneurial journey found her earning a Bachelors in Business, working for a bank, and becoming the Ambassador President for the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce.

When Robert and Kay Lee officially merged as a power couple in 2006, their marketing consulting soared to new heights by helping entrepreneurs create long-term profitability and sustainability for their companies.

Their work with others uncovered a compartmentalization problem not addressed by couples working together or entrepreneurs with a spouse.

Together, they reaffirmed that it is impossible not to bring home what’s happening at the office and let your home life creep into your work.

We Owe Everything to the Lessons We Learned

In Our Pasts…

Robert learned how to avoid conflict instead of resolving it, while Kay Lee’s parents modeled walking away from conflict.

With 2nd-generation Japanese parents, Robert’s pastor-dad tended to his flock more than his family, while Kay Lee’s parents valued hard work six days a week over family time.

It wasn’t intentional to avoid family, just based on the work ethic they were raised with and practiced.

In Our Marriage…

We went to two years of counseling BEFORE we got married to ensure we didn’t repeat what was modeled to us growing up.

In turn, we learned tools for dealing with issues in healthy ways BEFORE problems arise.

Seeing our parents model a lack of work/life balance and how unresolved conflict erodes relationships, we focused on doing the opposite.

We’ve also intentionally built a business to enhance our lives without work interfering.

With God…

Knowing how a business can take over personal and spiritual relationships, we’ve focused on putting faith first, family second, and finances last.

Since God’s purpose is based around helping others, we gauge our success by how well our clients do in their business and marriage.

Our business name, i61, uses its namesake—Isaiah 61—as our roadmap to help others utilize the resources they have to build a better future.

Working with Others…

Our selective process helps us only work with clients who will benefit from transformation and show they are willing to work on their relationship and business.

We love motivating our clients to achieve results. It is rewarding to see their business improve and their relationship strengthen.

With our focus on collaborating with others, we intentionally create strategic alliances with talented people who add value to our life, business, and relationships.

For example, we’ve stayed connected with coaches and consultants from the first marriage and business summit we held in 2020.

We believe in working with others to create relationships, not transactions.

In Business…

The last pharmaceutical company Robert worked for modeled ways to prioritize family while succeeding in business.

Raised with a family business that overtook family time, Kay Lee learned what she didn’t want to repeat.

We use our experiences to show entrepreneurs with a spouse and couplepreneurs how to scale a business in harmony with their marriage.

Want to use our expertise and know-how to help your marriage thrive, and business prosper? Let us show you how.
